We
aim to create a safe environment that responds to,
understands, supports, and respects each client.
In transforming anger, clients can expect:
- A deep, insightful look at their core way of existing in relationship
to self and others.
- An in-depth exploration at the hurt that has been masked by anger.
- Identification of family of origin struggles and childhood trauma
that have made a lasting imprint on who they are today.
- A look at current relationships and why your anger is so easily
triggered.
- An introduction to the idea that anger as a defense creates destructive
patterns in relationships, but anger, when recognized as a protection,
becomes a red flag, a signal that change is needed.
- Acceptance of their struggle with anger and the opportunity to really
be heard.
Through a new insight into the protection anger provides, clients will
learn to focus on and witness their own wounding that precedes anger,
to stop waiting for the source of their anger to change, and to find
within themselves the strength and courage to accept the call to action:
a voice holding us accountable for our own suffering.
We treat anger in the following modalities:
Individual and Couple Therapy: Sessions are scheduled
Monday-Saturday.
Call 917-968-5599 for more information and to schedule an appointment.
Weekly Support Groups: The group format is a mix between
relaxation and meditation, discussion, creative and experiential exercises.
The groups have been divided by gender to offer the space to address
the different challenges men and women face when dealing with anger.
- Women’s Anger Support Group - Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00
- Men’s Anger Support Group - Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:00
- Registration is required for the groups. An intake appointment is
scheduled prior to entering the group to ensure the group is an appropriate
fit for the client. Clients who wish to participate in the groups
must be available to attend on a weekly basis. The length of participation
is mutually determined by the client and group facilitator, which
often depends on other therapeutic support, and the intensity level
of anger that a client holds. Call 917-968-5599 to register.
Couple’s Anger and Communication Group (a 4-part series):
The intention of this group is to help couples communicate successfully,
without anger, and to introduce a journey to resolving differences.
The group meets for 4 consecutive skill-building sessions.
One-day Anger Intensive Workshop: This workshop is
held on Saturdays from 11-4pm.
The day is a mix of relaxation and meditation, discussion, and creative
experiential exercises.
* Registration is required. Space is limited to 6 people
per workshop. Call 917-968-5599 to register.
10-Session Anger Program:
This program is short-term, brief therapy, focused on cognitive-behavioral
patterns and changes to help clients re-direct their anger when triggered,
and use healthy and productive coping mechanisms. For clients who realize
there is deeper work needed, to address the roots of their anger, therapy
can continue past the 10 weeks.
Call us at 917-968-5599 to schedule an appointment.
