Workshop for Interfaith/ Intercultural Couples
2 Fridays, from 6:30-8:30pm
This is an opportunity to join other couples in a workshop format to gain an understanding of your partner’s faith and cultural differences, and to build skills for dealing with the effects of religious, ethnic, identity and emotional differences on a couple’s life. We will help you examine your interaction with your partner’s family and community, issues surrounding child-raising and celebrating holidays, and strengthen communication in your relationship so you are prepared as challenges surface.
These workshop sessions are religiously neutral.
This workshop will cover:
Interfaith Exploration
. Clarification one’s own religious/spiritual beliefs and practices
. Understanding your partner’s religious/spiritual beliefs and practices
. Celebrating areas of convergence and respecting areas of divergence
. Negotiating religious/spiritual expectations and boundaries
Common Challenges
. Reconciling ideological differences. Dealing with parents, in-laws, extended
families, and communities
. Deciding about religious conversion
. Planning a wedding
. Negotiating and celebrating the holidays
Important issues
. Maintaining one’s own religious identity
. Growing spiritually as a couple
. Raising an interfaith family

Workshop Fee: $100 per couple/ per session ($200 for the entire workshop per couple)
