WOMAN'S ANGER
This group meets Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00.
Our support group for women offers a safe forum in which women can find ways to transform their anger through self-expression and awareness. This is an in-depth look at the core of your anger. If you experience frequent, intense anger and behave destructively to yourself or others when angry, you may benefit from this group.
What to expect:
• A deep, insightful look at your core way of existing in relationship
to your self and others.
• In a safe, supported environment, with others facing similar challenges
with anger, we will explore hurt that has been masked by anger.
• Identification of family of origin struggles and childhood trauma
that have made a lasting imprint on who you are today.
• Insight into gender biases and sociological labels placed on women
who assert themselves aggressively and how to make an impact without losing
control.
• A look at your current relationships and why your anger is so easily
triggered.
• An introduction to the idea that anger as a defense creates destructive
patterns in relationships, but anger, when recognized as a protection, becomes
a red flag, a signal that change is needed.
• Acceptance of your struggle with anger and the opportunity to really
be heard.
• New ways to respond to emotional triggers in intimate relationships,
the workplace, and family by identifying and owning feelings, setting boundaries,
and communicating needs.
When anger is kept inside without a voice or when it continually erupts it
can cause great distress. When anger is expressed safely it can be a great
catalyst for change and discovery.
Through a new insight into the protection anger provides, clients will learn to focus and witness their own wounding that precedes anger, to stop waiting for the source of their anger to change, and to find within themselves the strength and courage to accept the call to action: a voice holding us accountable for our own suffering.
The group format is a mix between relaxation and meditation, discussion, creative and experiential exercises.
Registration is required for this group. Call us at 917-968-5599 to register.
Fees for this group are $100 for an initial intake appointment and $60 for each group session.
A letter for court or work can be provided if necessary.
